Dear Plumbers.co.nz community.

Plumbers.co.nz are always looking for new ways to help and support our Industry in New Zealand.

With the Internet becoming a more common way for Mrs Smith to find what she wants and buy online a new market has developed and established itself increasing by the day.  

Plumbers.co.nz have identified this market and it's potential. Before any decisions are made we wish to voice our plans and give you the opportunity to share your thoughts.

The www.plumbers.co.nz Online Plumbing Shop

THE IDEA

Mrs Smith searches for a tap online and finds www.plumbers.co.nz shop. She decides to buy it online and during the process is asked if she would like to have the tap installed by a qualified local plumber. Once confirmed the local plumber registered with www.plumbers.co.nz will receive an email with all the details to give Mrs Smith a ring and arrange for a quote.


GENERAL THOUGHTS

•   The local plumber never rings Mrs Smith and she is disappointed with www.plumbers.co.nz. >> How can this be achieved in a reliable way?
•   Some plumbers might feel that they are losing on product margins. >> keeping in mind that we are possibly picking up a market that was previously not available to the local plumber.
•   Product >> whether plumbers.co.nz become importers or use established brands. >> We are leaning more towards importing due to political issues within the industry. All products will be of high quality with backup support and common warranties.  
•   Setting up a corner on the forum for the public to ask product and installation related questions.

SUPPORTING THE INDUSTRY

The idea is  "to create more work" for plumbers.co.nz members and use a % of the profits to support organizations supporting plumbers.

We look forward to your Ideas and thoughts on the matter.

I live in a rural area and would welcome such a service. I am happy for the customer to purchase whatever hardware they want because I'm tired of getting stuff that they dont like and I have to send it back, so the responsibilty would be theirs. What i am not happy with is the availablilty of cr@p chinese imported pipe and fittings being sold to people who think they are getting a bargain. I wont install it and no-one else around here will either. This makes for very unhappy customers who think that plumbers are trying to rip them off.

Thanks Wombles for pointing that out. Agree fully with that statement. we will not be selling pipe and fittings strictly tap ware and fixtures.

UPDATE >>

We have found a common ground and have decided to offer established New Zealand brands plumbers install on a daily basis. We will also be creating a section for trade. Look out for great updates in weeks to come.  ;)
