ombudsman report
« on: February 13, 2015, 07:41:03 AM »
hi all, i just read the ombudsmans report and i have copy and pasted the following !!!!

"Cost of CPD courses"
46. The Federation submits that the amount paid by tradesmen for attending CPD courses is
unreasonable. The Federation estimates the cost to a business or a tradesman to be
around $5,000 per tradesman. That estimate includes the fees for those courses and
income “lost” during the time spent in attending those courses. Assuming the
Federation’s estimate of about $5,000 is accurate, that is not an insignificant cost.

what a joke!!! $5000 IS SIGNIFICANT TOO ME !! >:(

IS IT TOO YOU ?

Have a look at this weeks Fellow Practitioner!!!.

It puts a different light on the situation and I can't believe how the Ombudsman came up with his conclusion. Good on the Federation executive committee for trying to get us some justice.

Bowtie......the thing is mate, he's paid a lawyers wage, $5000 isn't a great deal to him.....let us eat cake if we have no bread.......remember where that sort of attitude lead to.......

Where do we turn if we can't go to the dept. of fairness for all.....it is a joke, a very bad one on us.....

I just looked up "all" in the lawyers dictionary.....it means everyone, except plumbers and tradies...
You can't choose who you are.....but you are the sum of your choices.......

Your right Robbo, but my point is that it is patronising, because if it is a lot of money (and it is), why are we lumbered with it?

Just like when the peasants said they had no bread to eat, so they told them to eat cake

Yes the Federation submitted that $5k was not an insignificant cost for tradespeople to fund to attend CPD courses.  Some excellent points made in this weeks Fellow Practitioner.  I've read the Ombudsman report too and am very, very disappointed in the decision.  This Board are making some serious mistakes when it comes to CPD - they could have got industry on side by making some sensible decisions - and into the bargain actually ensured some quality upskilling took place.  The Board are relying on suppliers to provide the courses.  I had some of my guys attend a really good full day course on central heating a few weeks ago - they learned heaps - any points?  Not a single one!
Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you?  Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed the passage with you?  (Walt Whitman 1819-1891)  American Poet

yes Robbo, my point is that its  a lot of money so why dont they do something about it!
it certainly doesn't cost builders or electrician that much, so why us????
i am very disappointed  with the report, why on earth does it seem no one wants to sort the board out?.
i will cringe at paying fees this year too a charity that simply does nothing for the industry.
