Ok I have a question!!
If a licenced plumber gasfitter and drainlayer went on his OE and returned after 2 years would he then first need to do the proposed 24 CPD points before he can get registered? if so alot of returning tradesman may look at different options rather than doning the tools.

hi guys, goodpoint buddy, yes they would be no less skilled but in the eyes of the board they would be `incompetent` it is easy to see where the whole system falls down, cheers

I suspect the answer to this is yes, but the only way to be sure is to contact the PGDB.  It will be an interesting one this time around given that they have waived the requirement this year for all points come 1 April 1012 and instead given you until 1 April 2013.  Not sure if this is extended to people returning or not - but then as a NZ qualified tradesperson don't see why you should be treated any differently to those residing here.

In my opinion the system is illegal and even goes against their published Gazette Notices.  By all means upskill for the sake of learning something new and adding something to your knowledge base.  Upskilling to gain points is a waste of time and always will be.
