I have been watching reports of numbers turning up for the recent Roadshow.  It looks like numbers of between 10 and 50 per venue - with 7500 odd licence holders this is pathetic.  We squirm and we scream, we moan and complain but when we are asked to stand up and express our opinions what do we do - stay home.  No wonder the PGDB have been so successful at bending us over and reaming us while at the same time helping themselves to our wallets and our cash.  Either everyone is happy about paying more or they are lazy.  Sure it is like banging your head against a brick wall, sure I think they sit there but really don't intend on really altering the course they have already set, sure I think the $5 for standards and the trainee fee are a smoke screen to divert attention away from the blatant overcharging of the disciplinary levy and offences fee, sure I think they keep trotting out the job they have to do but don't really appear to have looked at ways of reigning in their spending - but with all of this - if we don't have a show of unity then the steam roller will keep on steam rolling.  We can't expect to sit on our arses and have just a few fight the fight for us.  I have to say I was astounded at the low turn out in Wellington given the huge number of practitioners that reside in the greater Wellington area.  Shame on the Board, but bigger shame on us for being so apathetic (unless of course you all welcome fee increases and can't wait to give the Board more money, and you are absolutely delighted at the way they are operating - in which case I apologise).

I would have liked to have gone but the 350km trip to the nearest venue & work and personal commitments made it difficult to attend & till reading your post and checking the dates i had not realised that it  had been and gone.....

Guess it is like the last couple of years with the raft of submissions that you get to the point that you cant stand the sight of them. Perhaps it is alright if t is your job  being part of the process and not something that you have to fit in around work and everything else. When your greeted at the door by the wife who asks ''Who are you" your just some one that eats & sleeps here & works all the time, it is time to realise that your more than your job........

I know - we are beleagued with bullshit consultations - but as someone on here has as they tag "The only thing necessary fo the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

A society of sheep must in time beget a government of wolves.

Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted.

I don't know.  I don't care.  And it doesn't make any difference.

First they came for the Jews.  I didn't speak up.  I was not a Jew.  Then they came for the communists.  I didn't speak up.  I was not a communist.  Then they came for the trade unionists.  I didn't speak up.  I was not a trade unionist.  Then they came for me and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.  Martin Niemoller, 1945

We shall have t repent in this generation not so much for the evil deeded of the wicked people, but for the appalling silence of the good people.

And finally,

We know what happens to people who sit in the middle of the road - they get run over.

So many wise people so much more eloquent than I - I cannot say it better.

i think a large portion of the problem is that these venuse are stratgeitlcy placed as to cause the most inconvience to others so as to keep numbers down at meetings they are held after work times and in far away distances  for the most part in auck for example the venues on the north shore and south down in manakau ment travelling of at least 3/4 of an hour one way.
These people realise that we need to work longer and harder to pay there filthy stinking wages that if they were to hold a breakfast meeting at several diffrent suppliers then they would get a real judgement of where people stand!....Hey if our suppliers can hold breakfast meetings and cpd(god i hate that word!) courses at the suppliers then a stinky board should be able to do the same

if you agreed with them, they smiled....if you questioned them and they could shut you down with a smart conseated reply, it was done............

But ask them anything where they are caught lying or acting totally out of order, and it was thanks for your comment and they papered over it.....total corruption.

AND I KNOW YOU READ THIS SITE, SO LETS HAVE IT.

No apathy here mate.
It's just safer for me and the board to be not in the same room together.
There is nothing to be gained by me attending a 'consulataton'  "we gonna do whatever we want - you fukin plumbers gonna pay for it"
We don't give a rats arse about what you think, or how much it costs you, but by goddam, you make a teeny little mistake, we'll arse rape you in court till you are bankrupt, then we'll put the fees up again to cover the costs, so effectively, your peers in the trade are paying to persecute your arse and ruin your f****ing life.
So again to reiterate. No apathy. Just safer legally for me to not be there, and my knuckles remain unbruised, and there is no assault charge..... So far.
P.s. f**** the PGDB

Thank you and have a nice day

Just been to the Tauranga show and i think show sums up there performance.
They go through the motions, make believe they have our best interests and smile like there one of us when you know everything has been put in place and prices are gonna go up.
Didn't ask enough questions myself, wanted to get into how you were screwed over Badger but couldn't get into the right moment to have a go, think all the politeness got to me.
Thing that got me the most was some dickhead plumber saying that the costs were what they were and that we should just suck it up and get on with it.
No wonder we're in the position we are now with idiots like that in the industry.
I think a mass boycott of paying our fees next year is the only solution in bringing these fools down.
