The Board can't afford to operate without our fees so if you don't pay they will have you in front of the Discipline process and will fine you, that's the way they operate.  The only way to beat them is through the government process or the courts. A few of us have started a group and have complaints in to the regulation review committee. Contact me and I'll get you on the mailing list.  We will win its just going to take time.  wal.gordon@xtra.co.nz

Hi Wal
I thoroughly agree with you - professionalism, reasoning and taking a long term view.  These will win through in the end.
Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you?  Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed the passage with you?  (Walt Whitman 1819-1891)  American Poet

my point is like you said they cant operate without our fees so don't pay until the last moment

i do agree with wal but professionalism reasoning auditor generals  and the long term view have not worked so far so unless we get support from the plumbers and even the master plumbers we will still be the pissed off plumbers

hi all, just came across this quote on the apprenticeship training trust, i thought the pgdb could use it. here it is...
Leadership today, is not about authority, control and
dominance…………….It’s about inspiration, guidance,
direction, excellence, motivation and sway.
Author unknown.
What do you think, cheers.

hi robbo,

Just a quick note on that thought you found on the apprenticeship training trust web site, i think it's brilliant really.Thats what getting up and going to work every day should be all about and as for the "board" it just goes to show that a nice cushie salary doesn't mean your at all smart, innovative or leading the industry forward positively. If they can't work out that joining plumbers in the hunt for improved and total professionalism is better than just introducing more penalties and levies on us you've got to wonder just how smart they are,it's not that difficult i would have thought as ivé been pondering this for at least two years now like everyone else here that holds trade tickets. And really this applies to every industry or place of work in our nation.

The thing that bugs me still though and i'm sure i'm not the only one is yes they've been caught red handed now the Auditer General's report has been released, all fee's the "board" controls have been increased significantly over the past few years yet i don't know if they will now do what is fair and honest and now adjust them to meet their actual expenses.I mean lifting the exam fee from $150.00 to $300.00,what a joke.Licensing from $75.00 to $205.00 in what, four years?? which has just gone up again. And this is across all areas the board have control of.Expenses to regulate an indusrty sector just don't double all of a sudden, that's very unreralistic so i'm hoping the rates will be as i like to say 'adjusted' accordingly.
