Hi guys, call me cynical/suspicious but I would be worried that after gaining our points/applying for our license’s/making payment for license’s… then whammo the board has decided to select you for a `competency review` before issuing your paid for licence to work… O.K. you now have a gun to your head if you say no review (1) you don`t get your licence and (2) you don’t get your money back as that is their policy if your application fails.

The essential thing here is that we send this submission in as our own as well as the Federation - it won't hurt for them to get multiple copies.

We have to make our voices heard.
Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you?  Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed the passage with you?  (Walt Whitman 1819-1891)  American Poet

No one has stated this yet:

The Board has indicated 150 people will be reviewed each year. If it averages out at 50 per trade per year this is what will happen:

There are 6986 Certified Drainlayers of which 2784 are licensed so it would take 55.68 years to review only the Certified Drainlayers licensed.

There are 2378 Certified Gasfitters of which 1292 are licensed so it would take 25.84 years to review only the Certified Gasfitters licensed.

There are 6276 Certified Plumbers of which 3051 are licensed so it would take 61.02 years to review only the Certified Plumbers licensed.

No doubt the Board will claim that tradepeople hold more than one license but even if every tradesperson held three licenses it would still take 15.83 years to review only the Certified Tradespeople licensed and that is not taking into account an increase in certifying number the Board claims it is getting and any double ups in the random selection process where tradespeople are selected year after year.

Who was the mutton head in the secretariat who dreamed up this idea and what the hell is wrong with the Board for letting it proceed to the one question survey as it doesn't even get close to being consultation.

Another reason not to pay fees this year.

Unless of course they want to go you.....then you can come up "randomly" every year....
You can't choose who you are.....but you are the sum of your choices.......

Worst part is mate, one of the biggest factors in bringing this all down on us.....is the input from other fellow plumbers who are involved with the Board and the "Master Puppets"....or at best they sit back and allow it to happen, at worst implement the bullshit.

Monopoly building, think about it...all the tradies leaving...or working under the radar....who does it leave for the lion share of the legal and legit work ? with the possibility of "randomly" taking out your opposition when they find "cause for concern" in your random annual competency review.
