Poor hot water flow to top loader
« on: May 26, 2014, 09:59:28 AM »
Hi - I have a F&P top loader plumbed to laundry tub (hot & cold).
I can't run any programs using warm/hot water as the machine stops and beeps - it only runs normally on cold water programme.
The problem is that the flow into the machine from the hot water supply is very poor.  The tub's hot water tap for the washing machine seems to be restricting flow - it has a very small range of "open" and the flow is terrible hence the top loader having a hissyfit.  If I want to do a warm water wash I have to fill the machine using a bucket.
The hot and cold water pressure in the house is good.
Can anyone tell me how I can resolve this please ?

Washing machine hoses are usually fitted with small strainers at connection point. First thing I would do is check to see whether they are clogged restricting the flow. Also I would disconnect the hose from the tub, put a bucket underneath and see whether flow is available before the hose connection. That way you will will be able to determine whether the issue is with the super-tub, the machine or with the house plumbing. Depending on the result you should be able to call the right professional or resolve yourself.
Please note that the advice I am giving is only my opinion and not necessarily a fact.  Please refer to our terms and conditions.
