low hot water pressure in one tap.
« on: April 06, 2012, 12:10:05 PM »
Hi, my partner & I have just bought our first house. Our hot water pressure is fine in most of the house except for the kitchen tap. It is a low pressure system. I have dismantled the tap to check washers and blockages but found nothing. Also swapped cold & hot water taps over to verify. Problem persisted. Checked in the roof space & noticed a header tank of about 100 to 200L capacity directly above the kitchen. Any ideas?

Cheers Gary

how many outlets are coming out of the bottom of the tank in the ceiling? and is there a hot water cylinder close by?

Just crawled through the roof space and found that the header tank is obsolete. Ballcock is gone and it is empty. There is a hot water cylinder about  12 feet away from the suspect tap.

Try This............On the end of your mixer spout is a filter. undo the little nut and remove the filter as it will be a mains pressure airator. Now there should have been a grey open filter to replace this one in the box the tap came in. If not, just put the nut back in without the airator and put the flat washer to one side for later as you may meet a plumber with a spare piece for your tap.
