Adding overflow feature to acrylic bath
« on: May 25, 2014, 09:22:53 PM »
Hi,
we are renovating our bathroom and want to replace our old metal bath with a new acrylic bath.
We have found an acrylic bath that we like but it does not have an overflow hole. Both my wife and I want this feature.
How easy is it for a plumber to drill a hole at one end near the top of the bath rim and add in an overflow outlet and pipe running down to the waste pipe?
Thanks
Paul

Drilling the hole is easy but I suspect most plumbers will not do this because it will invalidate the warranty of your new bath. If you are concerned about water overflow, another way to tackle this problem is to install a floor-waste gully in the bathroom. Or buy a bath with an overflow :)
