Title: Consultation meetings!
Post by: TS on October 19, 2011, 08:22:07 PM
Has anyone been to one of these? I heard down south they're angry as the email notice for them all came out the afternoon of the Christchurch meeting and the night before the Dunedin one. Not enough time for some to arrange to get to them. I see Invercargill is not getting one and have had an email from a mate down there who is not happy about that. He couldn't just down tools and go to the Dunedin one on 24hrs notice.

And nothing north of Albany. Whangarei is not exactly in the sticks and is a central point for alot of tradesmen. Obviously they do not count either.

Robbo - don't believe the decisions have already been made.  Wait to read the Federation's submission which will be due out in early November after members have had a chance to attend the consultation meeting and feed back what they think.  The submission document takes no account of the Act.  The Board are continuing to exercise a power they don't have in law.  Upskilling as a condition of licence is not acceptable.  Make sure you read tomorrow's newsletter!

But as TS asked - has anyone been to one?  How interactive is it?  How much do you feel the Board are taking notice of what tradespeople are saying? And WHAT are tradespeople saying?  We haven't had our meeting up here yet - but looking forward to hearing what people are saying and how they are thinking about this.

Remember Consultation Document on Fees and Levies due in soon.
