Title: Centralised building consents
Post by: TS on April 06, 2011, 05:53:22 PM
So the Government wants to take away the ability of Councils to issue building consents. They propose that only the following main centres will do all the consents for the whole country: Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

How do those who live outside of these areas feel about that? It can be difficult enough process without dealing with someone in another city. Hows the face to face meeting at the local council gonna work now when sorting through an issue?

Aren't these councils typically the ones with the highest percentage of leaky buildings and the slowest with their consents already?

Madness if you ask me!

It was tucked away in a consultation document. I'll try and find something online. Submissions closed a couple of weeks ago though.
