Title: BEWARE ABOUT POINTS FOR GAS LICENCE
Post by: Badger on March 17, 2011, 12:19:35 PM
 :o
Just tried to renew my Gasfitting and Plumbing Certifying Licences on line, the Lady at the PG&DB was very helpful and has said she will remedy it, but I just want to give everyone a heads up that, the PG&DB website is set up in a way that the Plumbing technical points aren't recognised as Gasfitting non technical Points automatically, now I know all my fellow plumbers/gasfitters are a well organised bunch when it comes to paper work, that's why we are plumbers, because we love the paper work and industry law, but if there is just one out there who may find out at the last minute,  or god forbid after the close off date, you may get a $3600.00 fine for working with out enough points, there fore no licence, even if the Board has taken your money. (WHICH I AM TOLD ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO SOME POOR SOD TRYING EARN MONEY TO FEED HIS KIDS). ;)

Good on ya, be happy.

hi guys, just stumbled onto the Rinnai free point training exerzise,i have now completed it,sent it and am waiting for a reply. Can`t believe that it could be that easy and won`t believe it untill i see 16points at the boards end. If gas men are not aware of this site just go to "Gas Station" on this site, scroll down to the bottom where you will find a link. Go into the site and go to "book a course" fill in the details and then you will be directed to the online course,it is free untill the end of the month, i must say that Rinnai have really stepped up for us and i will now always use thier products(thats if it really worked)funny how you become very suspicious after dealing with the board for so many years, anyway have a look and give it a go,cheers

Hi guys

It is true and very commendable of Rinnai to do this.  It's only free until 31 March - and even if you don't need the points it's an interesting one to do.

hi guys, just got an e-mail from Rinnai:-  I am pleased to advise that you have been assessed as competent in CPD Course TP14726-11, Tradesmart 110: Energy efficiency and Labelling of Gas Appliances (Online)

The course attracts 16 technical Gasfitting points towards continuing professional development.

The results have been forwarded to the board today.
This is the kind of points training that we need for all trades (if they are to be continued) it would do away with all the arguments of up-skilling and be a very usefull information sharing exerzise that i am sure we would be happy to take part in with the bonus of no cost apart from needing the internet and a couple of hours to complete, cheers

And we need to tell Rinnai that the course offered was great and we appreciate being able to do any upskilling at nil cost.  Make sure you let them know you appreciate what they have done and they might do it again!

;D, competant, must have picked a bit up along the way, probably when I did my apprenticeship.Good on ya Rinnai.

Do archietects, MPs, surgeons and lawyers have to do upskilling and prove their competencey?? by doing courses on Hydration and Nutrition at work, or how to sleep??

The last time I saw a shower like the Board they had two old guys sat in a balcony making wise cracks about a talking frog, que music.

Hi Badger
Yes architects do upskilling and I know lawyers do too, not sure about surgeons and I wouldn't know what skills MP's have that they would need to... just shovelling more fecal matter I guess.  The upskilling that lawyers and architects do though is based more on them keeping a log of what they do rather than have to jump through the hoops that we are required to.

Cheers Jax, it would be nice if we were trustworthy enough to have the same system. What happened to trust, it is sad.
