Title: Shower Mixer query
Post by: si-dog on November 26, 2010, 11:57:40 AM
Hi there - I have a question re: low shower pressure. I have low hot water pressure in the house- the shower is the worst - this may be due to the mixer/showerhead which is getting worse. The local plumber recommended checking the valve inside the mixer was the correct one for the unequal pressure supply. The house is on low pressure with a header tank and the hot water is lower pressure in some palces. My question is - i have gotten this far with pulling the mixer apart (see phot) how do i get this black cap off - it is stuck tight....? cheers for your help! simon.

Actually that "black cap" should not come off at all. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think your local plumber was referring to the shower mixer it self when he said "valve". There could be many reasons as to why your shower pressue is low (including the shower mixer), but at the same time also many ways to remedy the problem. I would strongly recommend getting the plumber back in to have a look at it. Be very carefull, if you do anything wrong and flood your house your insurance might bail.  ::)

Mate you'd be better off talking to your plumber - somethings are best left to the experts.
