Hi guys, recently had to attend to a N.e.f.a. valve, made me think of the scathing attack by Fidl, on plumbers doing heating work. This work carried out by “heating experts” involved central heating throughout the house and the installation of a new h/w cylinder. The cylinder is too close to the floor(about 200mm)to be able to service the pressure valve properly, I managed to replace the washer but that was it, to replace the valve I would need to remove the cylinder and as you can see from the pics all piping is “hard piped” with no disconnection points so to do any serious work on the incoming water side of the system would require cutting all the pipes, the whole job was a bit rough as far as I could see, what do you think…. My reference to mild steel heating pipes in my post that Fidl thought was last century was proper heating systems in multi-story/hospital buildings etc, not small bore/micro-bore plastic systems used in domestic central heating situations, cheers

Hi Robbo guys im a uk plumber but it doesnt matter either way these photos are of an amateur who calls himself a plumber i worked for a college as an instructor and never saw work of this standard from any tradesman, there is absolutely no thought gone into the servicing or of the next guy coming along to work on the cylinder in regard to mild steel for carrying water this would only be used for fire systems the larger builds which i have seen would be done in copper the new system of using copper fittings which you use clamping tools is very effective and viable .The clamping untensil i used was called the Malpress system hand held and very good cheers chilly

hi guys/chilly, yes very amateurish as you say,central heating n.z. it says on the cylinder,(i can`t imagine that it was a plumber)blew me away to see that cylinder on such a crappy stand and to block the other pipes and fittings from servicing, makes you just throw your hands up in bewilderment, i could only replace a washer then tell the owner to call the people that installed it,she said that she had and they told her to call a plumber,cheers
