Title: Gas Fitter by Trade
Post by: newguy on September 09, 2010, 08:39:08 PM
Hi guys,

I have read through a lot of the things you guys have written and its great that you are speaking up! I served my apprenticeship as a gasfitter in Europe over 15 years ago, When I came here eventhough I was not happy with the whole redoing exams thing I passed my gas with %80 (second language) but now comes the bit I just cant understand. Why do I have to go all the way to Wellington to do my practical exams?? Isn't Auckland big enough to make a facility available here?? At the ITO or Unitec? I have to now somehow organise $3500 in fees and accommodation for two weeks in Wellington just to get registered? Sorry PGDB, I'm now applying to do my Hydraulics engineer at the University of Auckland, the whole course is cheaper then that and once I complete it I will be able to earn much more. I don't know what the PGDB is up to but in 5 years they would have scared all the good guys away!   :(
