hi guys/Mike, will do that if i am required to attend to h/w/cyl problems. I suppose you are looking for cases of unrestrained cyls coming loose. As a matter of interest i have just had my first shower since the earthquake cut off the water and power, if anyone ever doubted the services of our trades or the people in it, the Pgdboard/Govt Deptments and the like, all i can say is let an earthquake rip through their town or city then they will appreceiate what we do. I cannot say enough of the council services and others that fixed all the broken pipes and restored the water/drainage/power to my family and friends and all. Those guys worked hard and fast as well as having their own problems to sort out so all power to them. The work that our trades cover we be ongoing for years yet so reward rather than punishment is what is needed by the authorities,well thats my spin after seeing my city in ruins,cheers.

I have 3 hot water cylinders to replace in next two days. All caused by shaking after not being restrained properly. They have ruptured at the top or bottom connections. My own cylinder leaked at top crox nut and moved about 3 inches in the cylinder cupboard. It was never restrained in the cupboard and just relied oon the shelving to keep it in place.
Keep the leaks coming!

almost 90% of the cylinders i have seen in canterbury have either had no restaints or have had galvanised sheet metal strips screwed into the timber framing with 1" wood screws, have even come across them with ram plugs just into jib board!!! dodgy!!! must be action plumbing!!!
