Title: Aussie - plumbing and gas

Hi guys

I've had heaps of enquiries about P & G in OZ

One thing I will say - If you get the chance or can make the move - JUST DO IT.

I've had an up hill battle with the PGDB regarding lots of matters. My main concern with them is the fact that I have earned (long and hard) qualifications and recognitions - and they do not give them to me. This is my right and basically my life.

They are on a high horse - with my direction and no organisation or reality regarding plumbers.

I hope you all realise the CEO of the PGDB has recently been suspended for fraud. And a couple of years ago, the whole board was FIRED.

The organisation is a shambles.

I can go on and on and on. Don't get me started.

Anyway,
I'm in Perth. To get a Gasfitting licence, you do a 2 week "gas installation" course.
Followed by a 1 - 2 week "gas servicing" course. (if you choose)

It costs about $1500. And the fees are capped per year. So best to do it all in the same year.
I'm reg Gas fitter in NZ and CORGI reg in UK. But it dosen't mean squat - so forget it. Unless you are Craftman Gas in NZ.
But i do reccomend doing the whole course, as it is very informative and useful....... remember regs are different and penalties are high for not being 100% correct in your work.

The courses are brilliant and great tutors.

The gas authority is very strict.

You come out of the course (small exam - very easy_ fully qualified.
you are the only one who can sign off work - not your boss.

You are the licence holder.

I charge $100/hr for gas work. Private jobs
I'm NOT kidding

But this does not qualify for craftman gas in NZ!

i,ve just deleted a page of rant regarding the pgdb. Their  arrogance and  incompetence is costing    the industry in terms of the numbers of tradesmen walking away from the trade or leaving the country.
Without accepting the critical direction from within the industry, ministry of education, unions and other integral partners such as polytechs or  customers. They have isolated themselves into an almost secular group and like many secular groups/cults, will self implode leaving a trail of damage behind them (oops I'm ranting again).
I began my plumbing apprenticeship whan muldoon ran the country, I now have someone at the pgdb telling me what to do and what the rules say just like some little muldoon. they forget that i'm the f@#king expert, not them. However thats my rant
