hi all, first time on this forum,i find it very interesting, can anybody tell me what is involved in this course.i have just passed my redg exam and now have been informed by the board that i must attend the course ,which is only held in wellington costing $3200!plus flights, accom, food& a week off work,it turns into a $5000 exercise.I want to become qualified but seem to hit a brick wall at every corner when the pgdb change the rules so bloody often. That feels better getting that off my chest!!

You can thank your dodgy little mates from the UK, South Africa and any where else they come from trying to call themselves plumbers and gas fitters. To many complaints about poor workmanship and no knowledge of AS/NZ3500. If the board got rid of limited certificates we wouldn't have this problem. Do your 4 year apprenticeship and sit your craftsman like the rest of us.

I think it would be wise to remember who taught you guys how to plumb in the first place England, also we were taught by the best the Romans so look to your history books before criticizing all UK plumbers who come here because some of us are so much better than some of you for instance I am a apprentice trained city&guild plumber and gas engineer who ran his own businesses for 18 yrs and had 3000 plus gas customers and we were installing heating systems that you guys still haven't got he yet.

I WOULD SAY THAT IF YOU SHOULD BLAME ANYONE ,BLAME YOUR IMIGRATION DEPT FOR LETTING THE POORLY TRAINED PEOPLE I SAY PEOPLE BECAUSE IF YOU DO A SHORT COURSE IN PLUMBING IT DOESNT MEAN YOU CAN PLUMB  also just because some craftsman plumbers have been plumbing for years doesn't mean they are up to date with the plumbing today

ALSO YOU SHOULD LOOK TO YOUR REACTIVE CRAPPY PLUMBERS BOARD WHO ARE HOLDING THE PLUMBERS OF THIS COUNTRY TO RANSOM WITH STUPID RULES THAT SERVE NO PURPOSE OTHER THAN TO HELP OLD CRAFTSMEN TO KEEP EARNING GOOD MONEY OF OFF YOUNG PLUMBERS with young family

hi catnap
we came to NZ because i was earning $240 an hour and was working 24hrs a week and when not working found life boring and not very challenging,i believe in, work to live not live to work and I felt that there was more to life than just work and a full country like so many other UK people, now i hunt fish camp walk but just cant work for myself like your immigration told me .
any way you don't know me so you cant say my work work is shocking just as i cannot criticise yours .
I can only criticise what i have seen and that is where i have worked for craftsmen here and i was unhappy with the quality of there work and the way they treated customers ,so i couldn't  work for these people because i felt responsible for there work.
I feel we have to improve the standards of plumbing here and make it easier for plumbers to plumb and train so as to improve themselves so they then can offer a service and earn a proper wage.  jd
