Title: False Advertising

If you are not a member of the Master Plumbers you are not allowed you to use their logos nor mention you are a Master Plumber in your advertising, email signatures etc. You must be registered accordingly to take advantage of the PR benefits.

Unlike Master Plumbers the Plumbing Board's stance is.... "Anyone can advertise stating "they are certifying" using our logos, icons etc. There is no offence unless one can prove that works have taken place without supervision of a certifying individual."

The question is, does one wrong encourage and lead to the next?

What are your thoughts?

The problem is the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006 is set up to prosecute the honest registered practitioners, who make a mistake, not the illegal or dodgy people. With the funding model the Board has there is no way they can make a difference to the operations of the illegal operators.  Likewise with the qualification regime it requires a lot of supervision and the rules are being stretched to the limit.
