Hi all,
Called to a commercial property last week due to half their gas heaters locking out. Discovered the gas valve filters on each unit were blocked with shiny metallic flakes, that turned to dust when touched. This is a natural gas installation
One half of the building has got the original 50mm steel pipe -all appliances fed from this are working fine, with no evidence of the flakes anywhere.
The other half of the building is an extension (approx 15 years old) and has a 25mm copper main feeding appliances, which was tee'd off the 50mm steel just after the gas meter. This is where we found the flakes blocking filters, the heater at the end of the line had the most build-up of flakes.
Has anyone come across this before? I havnt found anyone yet that's seen or heard of it, i only managed to find some info of it happening in USA & UK.
Any help or insight would be appreciated!
