Title: Fellow Practitioner Issue 325 Dated 20 January 2017

2017 has arrived in all its finery, and we are asking ourselves this question - Is there an official Government assistance plan for the plumbing gasfitting and drainlaying industry? In fact is there any plan at all?

We look at what the Government actually contributes or doesn't contribute to our industry.

This can be one of two things: either the Government thinks the industry is doing well and they have left us alone or they don't know what to do about all the issues so they leave us alone. There is no leadership coming from the Minister or the Government so perhaps it is time for the industry to go it alone and appoint our own Board to do what the current board does but to take it one step further and look after the industry.

I believe the obstructions to the plumbing gasfitting and drainlaying industry progressing is the Minister and the Government. If they have an agenda then left them fund it - if they have no plan get out of the way of those that want things to be better.
