Title: Fellow Practitioner Issue 324 Dated 20 December 2016

Perhaps it’s time for arguing with the Government to stop and our resistance to start without warning. Enough time has been spent fighting incompetence and heavy handed regulation.

As it is at the moment you could take away the Government, the Minister and MBIE and we as an industry could still operate under the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board for governance and regulation. Perhaps it is time to turn our backs on Government regulation and go it alone. No more warning shots, no more paying for others protection, let’s just fund progress for the industry.

Have a great festive season and thanks for all your support throughout the year.

I agree.   Why should we waste our time fighting when we can simply walk away, use the same Board and achieve the same results. In reality we are simply doing what the Government is doing to us and that's ignoring them. The other point being is if we do turn our backs on their regulation where do they get the funds to investigate and prosecute us?

It's a harsh move but perhaps we do need to take action before they force us to a point of no return.  Remember the Minister has no power over the Board. I vote to walk if they won't talk.
