Title: Fellow Practitioner Issue 273 Dated 25 September 2015

As long as the public can buy their own fittings and fixtures the industry will miss out on making the profit to supplement wages. I know my mechanic won't fix my vehicles if I supply my own parts, my doctor won't operate if supply my own medical supplies and my dentist won't pop around home to fix my teeth. Have you ever tried to hire an operating theatre from the hospital or borrow a dentist surgery for the weekend? As trades people we seem to put ourselves down below others and let them dictate the terms to us.

There has been a lot of debate about the New Zealand Flag and millions of dollars has been spent, and will continue to be spent, but in reality is it just a Red Herring to distract people from the real issues affecting us all.

Hi everyone. The Loopy regulations saga has bought to light some very interesting facts - for example I was shocked to see the majority of licensed building practitioners weren't trade qualified. This poses a question: Why do the fools keep comparing the regulation of our industry with Licensed Building Practitioners, its not even close.  We are trade qualified most of them are members of the public with a licence to build which the government has given them. Nick Smith and his cronies need to start listening to plumbers gasfitters and drainlayers or it will all go bad on them. It is getting to the stage where is is Bureaucracy vs Trade common sense.

We all know we can do without bureaucrats but the public can't do without properly trained trades people.

How about when they hand out licenses to their mates, or when it suits them?

I heard that the past Chairperson had said the issuing of the licences to three non trade qualified people was legal and that was the end of it and old flip flop Williamson supported him.

Ahh... old flip flop, he supported a guy who beat his wife and the old registrar had no problem with sending child sexual abuse case notes to my wife in a plain wrapper so it nearly caused her to have a nervous breakdown.....all this too is legal apparently....but it is unsavoury, wrong and totally un ethical....and if the public were aware of half of what these clowns do they would be gone by lunchtime.

But it is all done behind closed doors with blank promises and veiled threats.....protected by a gaggle of lawyers....that we fund.....

All I can say and not express this enough in the present events of late......Builders beware (and the public too).

Apparently some of the present "builders" aren't trade qualified......so if they do what they done in the past.....they will "grandfather" a lot into a full license so they can sign off work......just like they did to my old boss who they then protected and made me the scape goat for when someone nearly died due to faulty work and a badly run certificate system....
