Title: Are Court fines too low?

Its no mystery as to why these people operate without a license. I can't believe they got $2k fines and bugger all else. Surely the Boards costs should have been reimbursed. Going by fines issued to licensed people, those costs are always around 1/2 of the actual cost so in total they are usually around the $10K ++ mark .

Also to advertise these services surely is not illegal if the work is carried out by a licenced person. Companies can be owned by anyone who does not have to be the person who does the work. This guy obviously did not challenge the charges and just went along with the boards ruling. Anyway i am not concerned of the amount of fine as long as we do not have to stump up with the cost of prosecution,cheers

As practitioners we will have paid for the investigation and the prosecution. Just because we are Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers we have to pay for any plonker who thinks they want to do their own plumbing gasfitting or drainlaying.

If I was to do an operation on someone would it be the police or the Medical council who prosecute me? You'll find it is the police.

Double standards in this country.
