Title: Loctite 567 Thread Sealant
Post by: Jaxcat on September 03, 2014, 04:18:03 PM
Hi
Just wondering if anyone on this forum has used this product and if so how did it go?  And if possible could you tell me what pressure you had running through the pipes?  Lastly, what methodology was used with the application?  If you can be as specific as possible.  I am dealing with an issue at the moment and I need to see where the problem lies - ie.. product, methodology of application or a question around the explanation/instructions.  Appreciate any feedback I can get.

hi Jax, i have used the 577 as its the high pressure version, works well, but i will only use it with a tapered thread, that is clean, i like the fact it locks the joint and no one can undo it without the knowledge :) that is... add heat and it will soften.
so you cant use it any where near a heat source.
i think its a good product
i hope this helps.
regards

What gas pressure did you have going through the pipes?  And when you say a clean thread - did you use a degreaser before applying the primer?  I am asking because we have used it with 90 kPa and we are having issues.  I'm working my way through where the issue lies - i.e. with the product, the instructions or the installation.  That said we've used it a few times before with 7 kPa and no problems.

the 567 from memory is for low pressure only not 90kpa, that's what 577 is for, check the tube for its rating, as far as cleaning the thread I just wipe it dry.
I have had no issues as long as you are using it on tapered threads.
if you have had it fail I would expect its because the tread is no clean or defective. you must clean the thread if you are cutting it your self. when I do I clean the thread with good old fashion white sprits, or britolite. acetone works well too.
I use gameco brand red sealant and its much better than the Loctite
