Title: Air/Vent Stack
Post by: anonymous on June 13, 2014, 06:20:13 PM
Had a new toilet installed and they replaced the vent/air stack. Problem is they used 100mm instead of 50mm like every other house on the street. They explain it helps toilet flush better? Comments please?

it does - but who cares i would be more worried about the weather proofing on that penetration through the wall

You bring up a valid point, only wish the plumbing investigator we had to bring in had put that in his report. Is the plumber responsible for repairing the flashing surrounding the pipe?

A"plumbing inspector" just for that. What other problems are there to justify that?

80mm is the minimum requirement  for a terminal vent Under G-13.

Penetration should have been flashed/sealed. External moisture.

Looking at your posts id  say the inspector will be busy, Is any of this work consented?

A look at the property file would be interesting.

Inspector as been looked at work listened to our issues but seemed more intetested in mediating a settlement between contractor behind our back because we refuse to pay remaining half of their $10k quote. His report found no issues with any of the work and with 25 years behind him the mediator in the disputes tribunal found in the  contractors favour.

Sorry by consent I assume you mean council? Work was all on private land so council was never involved
