Title: Plumbers Board meeting in Wanganui tonight
Post by: Rodza1 on March 27, 2014, 08:16:14 AM
So I have just had a ph call from a mate who tells me the board are in town tonight for a meeting via master plumbers. Other plumbers are invited to attend also apparently. Not sure how much notice they have given everyone but doesnt sound like much..Should be an interesting time.....

I havnt heard a board member speak since I was a 4th year apprentice in petone in 2007 and heard phil routhan's BS speech and reply to my question I asked about why our fees are climbing at a rate never seen before.

Any ideas for questions let me know and will try ask a few goodies if they let us non- MP tradies speak...

Max came and when questioned by one guy about the expense of being licensed he replied that part of the costs increasing was the examinations they have to run etc. I shut that down by stating that practitioners already paid $400 odd dollars to sit and another $400 odd dollars to get on the register if successful. I said if that doesnt cover it something is seriously wrong. He back tracked on previously said comment and agreed.  More of the same crap....???

standard practice for them lol. The other thing I took away from the meeting was that again and again he was saying that he agreed about some of our concerns and said that the act needs to change and a public funded levy introduced etc (electrical was brought up as an example) but he said that the board can only do so much and the onus was on us to create awareness and change. As if we have all this spare time on our hands lol. I thought that to be a bit of a cop out. They could move on a few issues if they wanted and lobby ministers. But they are on the good money already regardless so its not an area they are primarily concerned about...thats what I picked up anyway, its always someone elses fault etc
