so where are we with the validation bill, has it been defeated or did it pass through ?
I have not payed my relicencing so far waiting to see the outcome , I was informed today by an inspector that it had been passed .
He inspected the job but when he asked if I was currently licenced and found out I wasnt he said the job is a fail , he said any further work I did was at my risk , I informed him it always has been , he wasnt to upset as he has had to reapply for his job at the council and been informed that they no longer require him so he is looking for a new job , no one is safe anymore .

it is my understanding that they are working for their respective council as compliance officers - if your installation is compliant then they cannot fail it - they can only complain to the PGDB

The Amendment Bill has passed its second reading - by 61 votes for to 60 votes against. It has NOT passed in to law. There is a final reading - which may not be until after the budget. Lobbying is continuing of Peter Dunne and John Banks who are the two that could make a different. Labour, the Greens, Maori Party, Mana and Brendan Horan all voted against - National, Dunne and Banks voted for. We are encouraging plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers to contact Dunne and Banks and request that they vote against the retrospective nature of this Amendment Act.
Bottom line is you still need to licence and pay - if the bill is defeated that won't mean you don't licence, it just means that action can be taken to recover about $1.8 million of Offences and Disciplinary fees and levies that have been collected illegally.
It would appear there are quite sizeable per centages of practitioners who have not re-licensed, especially in the drainlaying sector. It would appear most Certifying Gasfitters have and this could be becasue they are the easy targets and because without a licencse they can't certify jobs.

well he did fill out the standard form and no mention on it about my licence , he only mentioned it was a fail , good point though integrated , would be interested to know if what you say is correct ,

Thanks for that Jaxcat , I had not heard anything , I wonder why the WCC inspector thinks it has passed , He also mentioned it is now a mandatory requirement to upskill before a licence will be issued , The PGDB are right now calling for submissions on this so he has got that wrong as well , maybe that is why he is looking for a new job .
I will also write a letter to Banks and Dunne , I did not even get an acknowledgment of the email I sent to Hekia Parata , National campaigned on reigning in beauracracy I cant say I have seen any sign of this , AS far as Williamsons concerned I hope Auckland get him as their Mayor , he will be found wanting in a big way , he is a career politician who has been in the job far too long and is completely ineffective.

they would/could lay complaint with the PGDB that an unlicensed person is undertaking restricted works - anything that is permitted by respective councils & T/A's creates a paper trail of this so it would be a very easy target for the board to make a case against someone -
I believe what Jax is saying also - nearly all cert gasfitters I know locally maybe 90% have re-licenced, maybe 50-60% of plumbers and drainlayers and I believe for the reasons that Jax gives as well - much harder to get away with it as a gasfitter having to self cert, will be more interesting next time round with the new system underway losing the current checks and mechanisms that are in place
