I am certain that if the public knew a half of what we all know and have witnessed and some of us lived through the Board would last about a month.
I also am pretty sure if "Campbell Live" received a petition or even 50 emails from tradesman they would do a story....and once that can of worms was aired......... well it would be beautiful.
Public scrutiny is the only way, if we play on their pitch with their rule book overseen by their refs......well the last decade will show you what you can expect.
Politicians are only motivated by votes.....i.e. public opinion.

Dear Campbell Live,
We have a situation where the Plumbers Board are causing huge increases to the cost of being a plumber, gasfitter or drainlayer, which is ultimately passed on to the customer.
This is not all, they do it corruptly and incompetently, and until recently under the guise of a charity, which they have spent, I think to date, $46 000.00 to fight through the courts with expensive lawyers to try and re-register as a charity. They also publically claimed that now the tax dodge of being a charity has been denied them, that they will have to charge us yet more. They have been shown to have over charged the industry in one period over $600 000.00….. outside of the law. The Office of the Auditor General’s damning report was referred to as “one man’s opinion that he was entitled to”, by the deputy Registrar…. and has since been ignored. Believe me when I say that this is just the tip of a very large grimy ice berg, never mind covering up the site of an explosion with a dodgy gas cert, that they claim not to have received….but there is a copy on their faulty electronic register, which even though it cost hundreds of $1000.00 to install….it carries a disclaimer stating that it isn’t reliable, again funded by the NZ public. They boast of a 100% conviction rate, which is a statistical impossibility, it is highly unlikely that every single person put in their kangaroo court can be guiltily.
All this is in the knowledge of the Building Minister (I have tried to tell him)…. who is a Director of a Heating and Ventilation company. Of note, you can not have any heating and ventilation without a building to put it in. Please see an open letter the Minister below this email.
They rent a mirrored skyscraper on the Terrace for $195 000.00 per year on a ten year lease, where as before it was run out of a town house, and a photocopier for $30 000.00 per year for a five year lease. All ultimately funded by the NZ public.
It costs about $4500.00 to get a licence and retrain to do a job we are already qualified to do, per licence per year. The biggest training provider, for this yearly “upskilling”, that offers a 50% discount to its own members for these courses……. have a 50% representation, of positions available to tradies, on the Plumber’s Board. This is against the best practice recommendations of the NZ Law Commission, which says an industry Board should be free of interest/industry groups because of impartiality.
In a time of the CHCH rebuild I ask you is this reasonable or even helpful….or even legal??

Intergrated mate....if just 20 guys who ain't happy with these Muppet's, dodgy Muppet's at that....wrote in and got it on air, the public backlash would MAKE them take notice.....
We are getting to a point where the poor end, and perhaps the middle section of society too, can't afford a plumber, if these people became aware of the reasons for this they would get as vocal as, then the politicians would act because they only care about votes and the public's perception of their performance.
I am always told how rich I must be because I am a plumber......you guys can testify how true this is and how much actually goes in YOUR pocket. The ones making the most out of all this bullshit......is the ones responsible for it all......if the public knew this it would all over for them....as simple as.....
Behind closed doors and playing by their rules they are never going to loose, ever.........in public they would be ridiculed....AND THEY KNOW THIS.
I can just see John Campbell saying and the Board refused to comment.....to being called dodgy, corrupt and incompetent!!! Their silence would speak volumes..........

Re the 100% success rate for prosecutions. I'm sure that justice is not served at all by pleading guilty but I'm sure all are told by the investigator that it will cost them much more if they go to court, having to pay a lawyer, the fines and court costs etc as well as the threat of publishing your name as the courts are public places and you are less likley to get name suppression there.
Where the PGDB is concerned, justice is only available for those who can afford it.
There are very few names of Licensed Plumbers, gasfitter or drailayers who are prosecuted/persecuted actually published so I guess the threat works well
I can only hope that it does not take 3 or 4 years for the Board to bring charges against whoever casued the gas explosion in Ruakaka. Does anyone yet have any ideas on whether the installation was legal or done on the cheap by LL

Not sure Wombles....perhaps if the person responsible for that heinous situation has enough inside connections he can keep it on the down low for a fine (fee), this has happened before.....(but it may not be any ones fault, and I really feel for the poor people involved)
Or if they want you and its not your fault, they will pin it on you any way, lie about you, hide evidence and look the other way while you life gets a good going over....so they have some one to make a scape goat....this is what I saw and witnessed....
None of this is right or acceptable....cracks me right up, you call Fiona Gravel names on here you get an over the top lawyers letter threatening legal action......you call the Board corrupt and incompetent and ............well nothing not even a denial.....no credability at all.......

We are getting some real numbers on the vote.....haven't heard from Mr Campbell yet, let you know if I hear anything.
It would be more effective if we all emailed the show with our different views and experiences, it would give it more credability, similar stories from other ends of the country.
Just think of the Board as vampires...if you let them sit in their spooky tower on the top of the mountain (TheTerrace), flying high above us in their bat form, untouchable (biased policy and procedure), they choose to single out one person at a time to ambush out of the shadows (the kangaroo court and discipline bollox, they could not take on us all together) and then they come out of the shadows to suck you dry (licence fees and CPD)....they will.....they will do it with a sly grin and love it........
BUT drag them out into the sunlight (public scrutiny) .........and POOOF...... up in a cloud of dust, all power gone in seconds, along with the fear and loathing, CPD and bullying ways. I can just see the valley in Transylvania clouds lifting and birds singing.........but before that your gonna need your pitch fork.... ;)
