They just don't get it.  CPD Gazette Notice submitted by the Board with only minor changes to the scheme the Minister referred to as being bullshit.

Regardless of anymore PGDB bullshit.. They will not get another illegal dollar from me..
I will pay my gas. $100 or whatever it is, (I've been a limited certificate holder for 27 years, registered plumber same amount of time), there is nothing in my field which is domestic gas servicing and maintenance that I don't know. I've forgotten more about gas than most 'certifying gasfitters' will ever know.
I'm a domestic maintenance plumber and gas fitter, I.e tap washers n shit..
I'll be goddamned if I'm paying those fools money.
I'll take jail before they get another cent from me.
I could be the PGDF poster boy.....a martyr if you will.
I'm 42 , my knees are f****ed, I'm in agony when I kneel to do general plumbing chores, my intention is to go into consultancy and /or plumbing design. I'm currently a contract manager who can't give up the tools, but can't stand to be n the office for more than 7 minutes at a time.

I'll fight the fight for another 3 years. I'll be 45, my knees will be truly f****ed by then, 30 years in the trade.

Hi 07442,

I made the shift to plumbing consultant, I'm called a Hydraulic Engineer now (amongst other things) ; :D, 4 1/2 years ago and haven't looked back. If you, or anyone else wants to ask any questions give me a call on 021774614, happy to discuss with anyone wishing to make the change.  The way I see it he more plumbers who get into this field the better.
I know it doesn't help you guys who still have to deal with the PGDB.

Cheers

Someone has been gobbing off in Parliament with this appearing in the NZ Herald

SORT THIS ONE, MURRAY
One of the great below-the-surface political battles of recent years has been between the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Board and some of those it regulates. There have been petitions, legal threats, furious lobbying and much more. Now, Murray Burns has been appointed to sort out the mess. While Burns has a long history of dealing with the dark politics of the health sector, he'll have his work cut out.

Re: Sort this one, Murray:   Is this government reverting to recruiting "Hit men" to take on anyone who disagrees with them.  Mr Allan Bickers was appointed as Chairperson of the Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board and stated in Napier at a Public Meeting "watch this space" - Does this mean Mr Burns is taking that space?  There is no argument that the plumbing gasfitting and drainlaying industry is in a mess but that can't be blamed on the tradespeople but is squarely the responsibility of those governing and regulating the industry.  All that is happening now is that the industry is sick of being bullied and the incompetence of those appointed by the government to regulate the industry.

We thought Mr Bickers was the "saviour" who was going to rescue us all from the incompetence of the past and he even said that if the Minister lost confidence in him he would resign. Now Mr Burns is rumoured to be here to sort it all out.

Welcome Mr Burns - the expectations are very high for you.

From a website - I see he is an accountant - perhaps he will be able to explain to the rest of the PGDB what Memorandum Accounts are - now there won't be any excuse for them not implementing that recommendation from the OAG.

 "Murray Burns

Murray Burns is currently Chief Executive of the Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand (Inc). He has 30 years experience in public sector roles including Chief Executive Officer, CentralRegional Health Authority; General Manager, Works and Development Services Corporation (NZ) Ltd; General Manager Corporate Services and Company Secretary, Works and Development Services Corporation (NZ) Ltd.; and is a former chair of the former Health Benefits Ltd and a past Director of Pharmac.

He has held a number of directorships for both state and private companies. Murray holds a New Zealand Society of Accountants Accounting Professional Qualification and a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (First Class Honours) in Accountancy from Victoria University."
