Fioana Gavriel is standing down , dont know why , maybe had enough of the bullshit in the industry

I thought she was an ok person, probably only doing what she was asked , be interesting to see where Master Plumbers go from here .

They recently asked all members to participate in a type of audit , I told them thanks but no thanks , they were persistant and so was I  , Have talked to a few others who also told them they were not prepared to do it.
If they ask me to leave because of it I will but they will have to push me . might not take much!

I wouldnt think so...

She is one of the main people set to gain from the whole cpd BS

maybe she has some knowledge of things to come and is confident that she is best to focus on milking it for all she can...

I have also heard of this audit / QA review. We recently went through it and found it was not what we expected :)
The reviewer gave us some good ideas for the business and some stuff to help us meet some obligations we didnt know about.

We thought they were coming with a big stick and going to bag our whole operation, but it was pleasently surprising in the manner it was conducted. So from my perspective i would recommend it.

Has anyone else gone through the process? thoughts?

Yes we have also gone through the QA audit and like you, found it to be a very beneficial experience.  The idea behind it I think was two fold - one was to assist members in areas of their business that they might be wanting e.g. employment contracts, health and safety, codes etc - the other was to bring up the quality of all members to keep the integrity of the brand.

I agree it certainly wasn't a big stick kind of scenario or trying to belittle you or anything like that - it was a collaboration of looking at where you are now, what things you needed to add into the mix to ensure you were legislatively safe and performing at top level.  it did not in anyway relate to the actual job of plumbing, but concentrated on the paperwork side of the business and the legislative responsibilities.  I think the auditor had a good range of ideas to share with different businesses.  Like you I have heard of people who have been very reluctant to take part, and even rude to the auditor - but I can't for the life of me understand why - it is a good chance to reflect on you business, how it is run and what can be done to improve.

They did every one in my area except me, funny that, even after contacting me to see if I was available and I said I was.

Actually she has done for years - and does it bloody well too.  Quite an empathiser with the working man and the union man too.   Probably the opposite to what many people thought.  She is a very articulate and intelligent woman to have on your side.

I think you will find that Ms Gavriel has been there and done that - I'm pretty sure this was one of her jobs prior to becoming CEO - must be an old feed you were looking at.
