Title: EECA Subsidy gone
Post by: solarman on May 24, 2012, 04:13:05 PM
Hi Plumber

Thank you for your input and I see a trip to my local plumber who installed our wetback to ask the hard questions are on the cards which is a shame because they came highly recommended by half the town lol.

Now to get rid of the sales rep >:D from Nova
Good luck with getting rid of them , strange thing is there product is very average but there pricing is high to say the least compared to other suppliers , what gets you is there terms of repayment...very easy.  Watch this space though because EECA canceled all subsidy effective in June , you will see lots of solar suppliers (including myself)offer subsidized credit terms...this is a good thing , competition in the market...fantastic

A year earlier than planned wasn't it?  I too got a letter from ECCA today outlining the changes after the budget.  I wonder if they will be changing the subsidy on gas heating and insulation.

Is the subsidy completely gone? I thought councils were up to something that would replace what EECA was doing. Not sure about this just hearing through the grapevine. Will it motivate the market or give the consumer another reason to wonder why solar is not supported. Do you know they are ridding of it?

I would like to draw your attention to a media statement from the Minister of Energy and Resources Phil Heatley, issued today as part of the Government’s Budget announcements.

It discusses a number of energy efficiency and renewable energy programmes that EECA runs.

Here is the link to it: http://www.beehive.govt.nz/release/thousands-more-nz-homes-be-insulated

Please note the announcement includes that the efficient water heating grants scheme (solar and heat pump water heating) will cease in June 2012.  This is one year earlier than originally indicated.

The overall message is that in tight times, the Government needs to make best use of taxpayer dollars.

Please find attached a letter to this effect. A hard copy of this letter will also be posted to you.

If you have any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at the numbers provided in the letter.

Kind Regards

Well my boss is gonna be pissed seeing as he's just paid $850.00 for me to do the solar course only for the grant scheme and they've gone and scrapped it.
Whilst on the course there were guys there who have been waiting since last year to do the course but were told there wasn't the numbers to run it, now they get to do it and the grants finished and some of them travelled from all over the country to do the bloody thing.
And the powers that be talk about a green New Zealand, Yeah right!

I did the Unit standard 24305 Solar water heating installation.
Didn't mind doing the course it just seems that everyone was there for the same reason and that was to be able to access the grant scheme.
Oh well it's another certificate to add to the list.

I ask as I was informed that they had canned the solar course as of march this year as well - when did you do it?

Did it in April.
Don't think they run too many of them as they don't get the numbers to make it worthwhile.
