Title: DoL Position on Heights and Ladder use
Post by: newguy on March 23, 2012, 11:12:55 AM
Hi Guys, did you receive this? Whats your thoughts the "prosecution phase"

Good morning

Please find attached some information from DoL regarding their current position on heights.

•   An important part of this information is ladder use:  they have stated “Ladders should be used as a means of access, and for short duration maintenance work such as changing a light bulb..”

•   So you will need to look at other means of accessing at height such as scaffold, scissor lifts etc or can the task be carried out on the ground.

•   DoL are trying to educate persons now and as of 1 may 2012 they will be in the prosecution phase.

•   This information is very important and also outlines the 3m rule and also  working on roofs etc.

•   Please relay this information to all your staff.

•   Please think about how you will carry out your work going forward without using a ladder.

Regards
