For the last three months I've been trying out a drink I found out about through a Registered Nurse called Sqwincher. Its like powerade and I have noticed it definitely helps improve my concentration and ability to be able to focus during an 8-10hour work day.

It is widely popular in Australia and is catching on in NZ. Most safety suppliers are now carrying it. After using it for a few months I would have to comment that I have noticed a substantial increase in my energy and productivity among other things.. The ability to be able to concentrate for a full 8-10hour day when subjected to heat and many labour intensive tasks involved in our line of work etc is important to me and helped with my efficiency when on a job.

''Sqwincher, the drink of industry, is an electrolyte replacement drink scientifically formulated to safely replace mineral salts, replenish fluids and sugars at optimal absorption rates, which are depleted as a result of dehydration or through physical exertion. Sqwincher prevents or reduces the severity of heat stress disorders and provides a supplement source of energy plus quenches thirst.''

As a trades person ive found this drink to be very beneficial to both myself and my productivity. Thought I'd share this as I've found it so helpful I warrant it as worthy of a mention to other plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers that get dehydrated or tired easily from heat etc. Much better alternative than juice, fizzy or energy drinks which I see a lot of guys buying etc. I dont see too many people drinking water in large amounts these days, usually coffee or products mentioned above. This could be an alternative to help guys that want something that tastes great, at a cost that wont blow there wallet wide open with continuous stops at shops etc during a working week.

Comes in a 2 litre concentrate which yields 20 litres at a cost of $32.00-$37.00, the best price $32 I found online at Industrial Footwear and Safety in Tauranga. Shipping was $6.00.

At a total cost of $38.00 delivered it makes for $1.90 a litre, far cheaper than say Powerade which can be around $4.00 for 750ml bottle.

If you would like more information, google it and see for yourself. Its definitely worth it in my opinion and could be the difference between making or not making that big mistake on a job. Most guys will make judgement errors or make a mistake when tired or dehydrated. Just something ive picked up on over the years.
Re-hydration is very important, more so than many probably realise. Cheers.

i would have thought a healthy diet full of vegies and fruit and drinking at least 6 pints of fresh potable water every day would be better than a quick fix?.

Water and vegies are better, but I dont see too many guys doing that with what they eat during the day thats all. Not saying it doesnt happen, just saying most guys Ive worked with drink V, eat pies and wind up de-hydrated.

Yeah Id say its on par if not better Roberto. If you've got a bad diet like so many plumbers ive worked with do, it would be beneficial.

Roberto - here's hoping that's one less pie a week if they donate to the PGDF ;)

Thats great man. Havnt tried that one. I like the wildberry. Mrs likes the tropical. Glad it makes a difference. I feel hydration is important, especially when your pedal to the metal doing jobs 5-6 days a week etc  8)
