I have attached an interesting document I think every business owner should read. I thought the most important thing was the fact that the board is planning a large scale public TV education campaign. I don't know about you guys but many companies I have worked for sometimes have more apprentices then tradesmen. Does this mean you cant send your apprentice to install an insinkerator anymore because he is not a licenced plumber? Mrs Smith will now make sure to ask you for it that's for sure!

It doesnt mean that at all. In fact it doesnt mean anything. You dont have to have any qualifications to do plumbing, we all know that, all you need to have is a limited licence which all apprentices have anyway. The registered plumber  or certified plumber you work under is printed on the back. Old Mrs Smith doesnt know the difference between a limited license holder and a certified plumber, and to tell you the truth in some instances from the plumbing work Ive seen lately neither do I!!!!

hi guys, yes exemption for plumbing under supervision opened the flood gates, all a company now needs is a few Diy`ers/Cowboys who he needs to supervise. Carrying our licences seems like a good idea(we do anyway)as far as working on council inspected work is concerned, but general maintenance or unpermited work for mrs Smith seems a bit unrealistic. As we know a sixteen yr old schoolboy was printing fake driving licences and selling them awhile ago so for somebody to print plumbing licences is not going to be difficult, anyone could do it. The time it takes Mrs Smith to look at your licence then check it out on the pgdb web site to see if it is genuine(if she has the internet)will put half an hour or more on the job and all the time she still has water dripping through the ceiling, what is she going to do she just needs the job done at a reasonable cost, cheers

how much are you selling these certifying licenses for robbo i want one...lol...
i rang the pgdb last week as i saw the cut off day for applying for rego exams was the 30th on thrusday nxt week...i asked the lady i spoke to when exactly was the cut off day for aplications(just to be sure you know)...she said "hang on ill just look at my calender" i herd paper shuffling in the back ground and she promptly came back and said"next friday...i then looked at my calendar which told me if i had my application in on friday it would be a day late(and therefore would not be accepted) as friday is the 1st of october...and that would have held me back for another 6 months...i doubt she even looked at a calendar...lol...good on ya PGDB your missing a few sharp tools in your shed!.

hi guys, the board is making it mandatory to carry our trade licences in the name of health and safety and to act just like driving licences, the only difference is that driving licences do not have to be renewed each year after attending certain courses to earn points and then paid for in ever increasing amounts so as to be able to go to work. imagine if they applied the rules around our liceces to driving licences in the name of health and safety, would the road toll come down?cheers

i know exactly what you mean robbo...a truck license to drive a 30ton vehicle needs only to have a new medical every three years...no refersher courses on how to load safely, how to doubble clutch, no courses on the innovation and new truck desings etc etc...or a firearm license the most deadly license out there yet no refersher courses...A Commercial Launch Masters (CLM) license you only need to renew your raidio operators license every three years...and this ticket allowes you to captian a ship as big as the queen mary in harbour limits!...The PDGB just think too big for there shoes...of course as plumbers dranies and gasses public safety is paramount even with out the stupid PGDB pushing there im so important crap!...

I would be happy to do the points system every three years(Because this is the norm with other licenses) mate im not going to forget how to friken plumb in one year ESP when its my friken day to day job!!!!!!!

For example im doing the november exams this weekend...and i paid last month...got a letter accepting my fees and saying that my admission slip would be posted to me on or about 26th october...its now the 8th november and still no admission slip...last friday i rang asking where it was..."Ooh so and so has been rearly busy and its going to be posted out fast post to you"...YEA RIGHT!...load of crap you just neglected to do your job correctly!...maybees a refresher course in time mangement is needed or maybees a boot up your arse would help...Not good enough i say comming from a orgisination that expects nothing less than perfection from us!!
