pgdb licence adverts
« on: May 17, 2012, 10:35:31 AM »
why do we see all these adverts from the pgdb for people to ensure tradesmen show thier licencing card when anyone off the street can walk into bunnings/mitre10/mico/plumbing world and buy enough gear to do the plumbing on a entire home???

The selling of sanitary plumbing gear should not be sold to the general public!!! this pisses me off,

for one if anyone can do plumbing why the hell did i spend $6000 to train and become a licenced plumber?

and if anyone can purchase the gear to do it, where does that leave the professionala like us???

Hiring a plumber, gasfitter
or drainlayer?

First check to see if they are
authorised to undertake the work
by asking to see their card.

All authorised tradespeople must carry
their authorisation card issued by the Board.

The card also details what a person's supervision requirements are, if any (on the reverse).

You can also check to see if a person is authorised on our online register or phone
us on 0800 743 262.

Really they are complete and utter morons if they think tradesmen/women will back this. I was sent two plumbers journals by mistake so I am Lucky enough to have two stickers advertising their show your card campaign!!.WoW  What a joke. They treat us like career criminals on the verge of committing a major crime....waiting to pounce. Lawyerd up and ready to stike while the iron is hot etc.

Do they really think then that we will drive around the country advertising their shit for them, everyone I know in the trade cocked their head back and laughed at this one. What a complete waste of time and money. If they set their fees appropriately and were honest and transparent with their dealings with industry then they probably would get some support. As long as they rule the industry with the iron fist though the majority who they regulate will not support them.

They cant keep track of everyone , especially the guys that have said ''To hell with the licenses'' although they make attempt to contact and make you explain yourself (this happened to a plumber I know who was late with a license renewal) so they want to get the public in on it and make them more aware so they will catch more of us in their net.

To me the "Board'' dont seem to be too much about protecting the health and safety of the public even though they claim to be, they are more interested in chasing down tradesman. Its pretty obvious and there are numerous examples of this on this very site. Joe public complains = investigation, practitioner complains about another practitioner = ignored even when its obvious the complaining practitioner would have a far better understanding of illegal, unsafe and straight up dangerous work practice than joe public would.

How is that protecting the health and safety of the public?? I would really like to know...............
