"close up" responce and thank you
« on: July 15, 2011, 06:53:29 PM »
I am stunned and a bit awed by the responce and offers by total strangers, it just took me 3 hours to say thank you going through the emails.

I have nothing but admiration and respect for Wal and his principles and ethics, thank you mate, from my wife and I.

Hand on heart I can think of no better front man and the organisation he stands for to lead this industry back to the light and away from the shadows thrown up by gutless bullies. People... this opportunity is the best one for a long time, if not ever, and all it takes is for you to register with Wal and the Feds.

Wal we have a saying from where I come from it is "my heart, my hand", you got both mate, I got your back any time you might need it(otherwise I will honour the agreement to stay 100kms away, lol private joke).

Also thank you to all the other supporters and  Feds that helped Wal out and helped us along, I have had my faith in humanity restored and regret letting those souless b##tards taint my life, Nos Da 8)

Well said Paul - I really felt for you and your family last night.  The story was done very well and sympathetically.  Shame the same can't be said for the PGDB's attitude.  Wal certainly is a wonderful human being and deserves all our thanks!
Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you?  Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed the passage with you?  (Walt Whitman 1819-1891)  American Poet

Myself and a work mate were discussing this today and the issue of the 80+ certs that you think could have been altered but the cost to obtain them. We were saying if everyone chipped in some money towards the federation that we could raise what's required to get hold of them.
Not sure Badger if that's a route you'd want to go down plus there's the issue of giving the parasites more money but it was just a thought.
I do believe this is our chance to make a difference so we need to get the word out to everyone in the trade and stick together.

i would of thought that the cost to retrieve a past gas cert would have only applied to the public...i would have thought that in the name of public safety that ANY gasfitter who has posted certs to the pgdb would have clear right to inspect those certs for free in the name of public safety...putting a cost on it to get a copy is restricting gasfitters from viewing there own certs and is endangering the publics safety by putting barriers in the way of what appears to be a HEALTH and SAFETY issue!...

Quick thought - perhaps you could ask for them under the OIA - and then they should give you copies for free.

Hi

You can log in to pgdb site and see your history of gas certs , I did just that right now and guess what there are 8 certificates filed under my name in all parts of the country , that I have no connection to, but my name is on the certificate as the owner of the certificate , will be following this up so will post with outcome later. Suggest all practitioners check there cert history on the website .

Cheers Peasea

Hi Peasea

What you don't see though are the originals and I think what Paul is concerned about is there could be jobs he has certified that have been altered on the certificate that he has signed in between him signing and the cert getting posted off.  With the paper based certs this was a real possibility if you couldn't trust the office staff/employer who was doing the posting of them.  This is a very sad state of affairs, but what has happened to Paul Gee proves that it does and can happen.

I am astounded that you have found 8 certs attributed to you that are not yours.  Go carefully my friend with the PGDB.  From the very beginning take notes of your phone conversations, when you spoke to them, who you spoke to, and what you said and what they said.  You will find yourself very quickly needed to prove that you didn't do these jobs i.e. you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent.  Let us know how you get on - it will very interesting.
How can we trust this system - and what's worse how can we trust the system to come in in 2013 which will be an even looser goose under MED.

I think , and I have still to check , we requested a a book of certs a while back , which never turned up , the cheque we sent was cashed so we rang the board to find out where they were , they said we have sent them , we said we havent received them they said you will have to pay for another lot before we will send you replacements? , we needed them urgently as the gas supplier was threatening to disconnect the gas supply to a customer ,we duly paid for another set and after some weeks we were reimbursed for the missing ones , we had to swear a statment in front of a JP that if the certs turned up we would not use them , I said at the time can you not just cancel them , I cant remember the response , but I guess that was too easy , I suspect these are the missing certs , as I said previously we need to check back on the correspondece and see if the numbers are these ones now that I see on my cert record although we would not know the numbers until we received the new booklet  , they all have the same name of another gasfitter and are in sequence so that will probaly explain it . Yes I take your point about logging every bit of correspondence particularly  after recent events , and as the board dont make mistakes !

I tried to get the certs to check early on, about 2005 ( after trying to get it looked into since 2003) and was told there was over 1000 and it would cost $25 per go, then told 89 but still at $25 per cert. It wasn't until after the explosion that, after many attempts, they finally gave them to me, years later and after a potentially fatal explosion in 2009 where at least two people ( the owner and myself) lost our livelyhoods and had our lives turned upside down.

peasea, it just goes to show that the system is wide open to abuse and no one seems in a rush to fix it, if anything they are going to make it worse, just as long as the cash keeps rolling in. Think about this if those certs were cancelled how did they get back on the system and if they know where they are, question the owners as to who provided them with the certs, because that will lead to the person who "obtained" them.

I said it before the explosion and I'll say it again..........will it take a huge incident or even worse a fatality to get this looked into, it makes me sick.

Well Peasea it could be a logical explanation in your case.  The other gasfitter who has obviously filed these may have purchased certs legitimately and somehow due to an admin mix up got the numbers sent to you... I hope that is the case.

the interesting thing is both our names are on the certificates my name as the installer and the other name as the certifier, no test reults, no name of customer , have emailed the board so will post when I hear something .

Badger I dont know if they were cancelled as I suggested we'll wait and see.

Cheers

it came up in my hearing, the boards computer system didn't allow sufficient information to be entered, so they decided to just put in the "important" part i.e. the name of the guy they might need to chase and the appliances and address, leaving out other parts which I thought were more important ( but it depends on your motives ) i.e. trivial things like bloody soundness test results and the correct owner etc (laughable i know ), but the best part was that the actual board didn't know!!!! the secitariate i.e. Mr Uren hadn't told them about the inadequate comput or system. :o

Then they had the gall to say that i had kept insufficient records :o :o

It will all come out in the public inquiry that I am seeking, that and much much more, believe me there is a lot  8)
