I assume you reported this to the PGDB?
Have you learned lessons only of those who admired you, and were tender with you, and stood aside for you?  Have you not learned great lessons from those who braced themselves against you, and disputed the passage with you?  (Walt Whitman 1819-1891)  American Poet

The Board will be too busy figuring out how to take the next lot of money off practitioners and chasing home handy men for changing toilet seats.

I wouldn't waste my time with the PGDB after reporting a infinity installed by a rinnai agent  ??? 300mm below not 1 but 2 opening window and the customers complaining of fumes in the house and the board has done squat nil nada. Complete waste of time
Unless the moral improves the floggings will continue

We did report one really bad job and I have to say I was impressed with the speed of the response.  We send a 9 page document to the Board showing photos, an indepth description of the installation, test results, a pic of the website of the guy who did the job, a lot of details on what we thought was wrong.  We sent it by email at about 7pm at night and the Board had someone on site by 9am the next morning.  A prosecution was taken against a non tradesman for the work and he was fined I think $3k but was already serving time in her Majesty's prison, so don't know if the fine was ever paid.  The customer in this case had paid top dollar for a job that was done by someone who was not a gasfitter but who was employed by a firm that advertise "panting, plastering, decorating, plumbing, gasfitting etc etc" you know the one stop shop - we do it all.  He had got a person from a temp agency who he said told him this guy was a gasfitter.

It is always worth reporting these things - while I don't agree with everything the PGDB does in regards to fees and their attitude to some things - we can't let work like this go unreported - it does our reputations no good - and quite frankly why should people get away with work like this?  It makes us all look shoddy.

What the Board want is details when you report - as much information as you can give - name, address, photos etc all help.

Hi Jaxcat report to the board was similar content to the 9 page one sent. I checked with the customers 2 weeks ago and they had a heard from the board who said they weren't taking it any further  :o and apparently advised them not to have those windows open when using the infinity  :'( :'(

So what were the actual measurements from the window then?  Badger will blow a gasket when he reads this.

I left it 540mm with a tech note and a further British Standard, and they went me big time.....is this guy a Master Plumber by chance? got any written proof mate?

Its blatant favouritism and nepotism.

You can't choose who you are.....but you are the sum of your choices.......

Here's an interesting thought. The first image above represents several issues, the Rinnai is too close to the window and the 9KG is obviously to close to a source of ignition (this was because the provider refused to install the bottles and reported the installation to the PGDB). I spoke to the electrician which in return spoke to the clients gasfitter and he says the installation complies pointing to the diagram on page 153 of NZBC 5261. He raised the appliance 500mm above the bottles which puts it outside the required clearance making it acceptable. Thoughts?

Just a question - is the LPG provider happy to swap the bottles out while the set up is like this?  I wouldn't have thought so.  I can't see well enough - but is there any strapping on the 9 kg?

Nope the provider is not happy swapping the bottles, they pointed out that the Rinnai was to close to the bottles and window so the gas-fitter came back and lifted it up by 50mm into the "approved" zone. I'm not sure whether they are happy now. The 9KG is not strapped.
