Gas cooktop doesn't feel safe..
« on: August 18, 2016, 03:20:04 PM »
Hi

Just movbed into a rental and we are having issues with our gas cooktop. The landlord is making it so difficult and will not get someone to service it for us. We have been unable to cook for a couple weeks now.
I have a video that I will attach to demonstrate what the cooktop is doing and hopefully someone could recommend a resolution.

The elements blow out intermittently. They can be a real struggle to ignite and stay on and can cause a fire ball in your face after multiple attempts. They flicker and don't produce nice even flame. They hob is approximately 10 years old and when we moved in a few weeks ago it was horrendously dirty like it had never been looked after.

to be honest i dont see much of a problem there

take another video showing what it is like when you actually push the knob down rotate it to ignite and hold it there for 5-10 seconds after ignition

you are not allowing enough time for ignition and subsequent thermo-couple flame failure activation to hold the gas supply open
