masport gas fire question
« on: June 15, 2012, 07:41:30 PM »
hi,

I got a call today from a customer of ours, he said that his masport gas fire's flame goes out completely when he turns the flame from low to high after it has ignighted????

I could be going there on monday and as a trainee gasfitter (sitting my exam in a couple of weeks) Im interested to know what the problem might be??? even if i dont go to fix it, would still help my learning and understanding,

cheers

Partial blockage in pilot assembly will cause it, thermocouple not getting hot enough. Probably from lack of service or too long between service periods.
Cracked or split thermocouple will cause same problem.
If its electronic and has flame rectification, the flame rod being dirty, and bad earth are places to start looking.
Be wary the masport mg3000 series of heaters, they are famous for delayed ignition, and exploding glass.
