Fellow Practitioner Issue 144 Dated 8 March 2013
« on: March 08, 2013, 04:35:21 AM »
The biggest load of shit yet from Maurice (and that’s saying something!)

This week the Federation received a letter from Maurice Williamson and it was the biggest load of shit we have ever received from him. The letter was in response to the Federation’s call for the Board to be fired over their actions with the Discipline Levy and Fees Notice.

Is it about money or power and influence?

Hi guys, a very depressing `Fellow Practitioner` today. When we seem to have RIGHT on our side we cannot seem to move forward. What will it take to shift the thinking of the Minister and the dysfunctional board?  The Board and the Minister seem to be making it easier for people to walk away from the trades. Even trade based business`s may be thinking of shutting up shop (or going broke)in the wake of big building companies `Mainzeal` going into receivership, and who could blame them, construction is not a good place to be, where will it all end? cheers

Basically we have member of Parliament, saying it is OK to break the law if you need the money.....but you can only get away with it if you have the right connections....

Yes we have trades leaving left right and centre....and guess who stays to mop up all the perks...just look at the memberships......

Most who benefit couldn't win on a level playingfield....that's why they load the game in their favour....which is wrong, just wrong.....what country do we aim to leave for our kids, our future....one thats been pilaged for a tight few...or one where you get a fair go if you put the work in.....sad very sad....
You can't choose who you are.....but you are the sum of your choices.......

hi guys, yes badger all this time we have been blaming the board but the blame should be firmly put at the
feet of the Minister it is all his fault that the board has got away with so much he is a useless Building and Housing minister and should be ashamed of himself for not steping in, we might have to wait for the next labour party to get a replacement, just hope it`s not that useless ex trade union West Coaster like we had before, cheers

Good evening guys. I'm sitting reading this spin from our hopeless government and getting more disillusioned about everything. I've got a cheque for 878.33 in front of me. I dont know what to put down as the payee. The board want it ,but what will they do with it? dont really need to answer that do we, we all know. I'm thinking about sending it to the child cancer society,. They have been a fountain of support to my family over the last 2 years and most definatly DESERVE my money. The board, however have bombarded me with lies and bullshit, so i should be happy that i may be privalaged to work in an industry which the board and the dysfunctional N.Z building industry have bought t o its knees, Talked to a guy today who earns the same as me, and all he does is runs wires for fire alarms. No fees, no exams, no f**** all. All you young guys out there , do your time and piss of to australia. No point in staying here. Me, i'll have some more beers and tomorrow i will wright the cheque to pgdb. I do need to make money to  to support my family.

This is an excellent point Gordy, this is a growing trend - alot of these "Specialist" trades that are effectively unregulated have managed to create a niche and rake it in - and the big kicker in it all is they are unregulated - so very minimal associated trade costs...    health & safety would be about it...

The positive in that though is anyone can do it...

just a few of them:

fire protection/sprinkler systems/alarms
pumping
vacuum systems
compressed air

etc, etc
