The Sifco Gun is a must have for underfloor heating installers!
« on: November 01, 2008, 06:23:58 PM »
In Europe the most popular way of installing an underfloor heating system is by using a Tacker sheet system. The Concrete slab is poured in two stages. After the first stage is poured polystyrene sheets reinforced by a layer of alloy are layed straight onto the concrete in the areas to be heated. Then with a Tacker staple tool the pipe is quickly tackered to the sheets. This method is a very quick way to install the pipe, very often the poly sheets even have a diagram as to how the pipe should be installed. For example Underfloor heating in a bathroom should be installed with smaller pipe spacing then a living room. After the pipe has been installed a second layer of screed is poured. The underfloor heating pipe is now approximately between 30 and 50 mm away from finished floor level.

In New Zealand we do it differently though, the underfloor heating pipe is tied to the concrete mesh (why we do it that way is a different story) and the most common way of doing this is via cable ties. This is a very long and painful procedure that most installers use.

Well if you are an installer then you will love the Sifco gun. It's a tool that does the tie for you. With the Sifcos gun I was able to install the pipe in over 160 sqm in 6 hours!

These guys are even offer a free presentation (This is not a paid ad  :)), it's a great tool that will save you lots of time and blisters.
