Which watertightness tests for plumbing pipework and drains do you prefer and why?

for pipework i would pressure test to 1500kpa and use water for drainage

1500kpa for water, because thats what G12/AS1 requires.

Low pressure air test for drainage simply because its quicker than waiting for drains to fill up and its a better indication of a leak.

how do u know if theres a leak then? do u have a bordon gauge on the pipework?

never done this would be interested to know how others may have done it in past

would you not have to seal all openings meaning greater cost for caps etc?
to what pressure is test required?  depending maybe compressor required? - more cost?
manometer digital or otherwise?

Havent had to do one in a long time but we used to air test our stacks to 30kpa off memory and just used a manometer to measure it, must say I do perfer drainage test with water mainly because if there is a leak locating it is very quick, but most people perfer how they were taught.
